Let's get started.

Welcome to the hardwood hustle. Got a fun episode today. We're going to talk about offensive problem solving. So we're going to go a lot of different directions. But, you know, we're all in season. Me and Sam, and we got a regular to the show, Micah Mills here. He's in the middle of his college season. Welcome, Micah. Thanks, Sam. It's always a pleasure to be on to see you guys. Yeah, he sounds tired, just like I do. Just like Sam does. We're all late night watching film, trying to get our team ready, trying to solve offensive problems. You got a little cold. You're a little under the weather. A little tired. It's just that, you know, that time of year for coaches.

But offensive problem solving, and how do you go about that? And there's an exact science to it, but we are going to just kind of talk through some ways that, you know, we're going to raise some questions, what do you do when this happens? What do you do when that happens? How are you trying to go about solving these problems? You know, throughout the year, throughout the season, so much of it is problem solving, whether it's on the offensive end, the defensive end, you know, how do I get my team to be more effective to give us a better chance to win? You know, a lot of times you go in with some really good laid plans and they don't necessarily work out how you hoped and then you got to figure out well is there a better way to do this and so anyway let's dive into some offensive problem

1:33.9

solving i'll start with you sam you know when you going through your seasons what are some common

1:39.2

problems some common issues things you like gosh i need, I constantly find myself having to figure this out

1:45.4

over the course of the season.

1:47.9

Well, yeah, if I'm, if I'm thinking about offensive struggles we're having, right, I probably

1:53.2

think of it in three ways. And that's this. Like, are we just missing shots? Like, are we

1:59.3

getting good shots and just missing them? That's one way I'm looking at. If it is, okay, well, that's a good, that's good because we're getting good shots. We're just missing them. Maybe we need to work on that more in practice. If we're missing a lot of wide open threes, maybe we need to shoot more. Maybe we need to get guys in before practice, after practice, whatever it is.

2:18.5

The second thing is, are we struggling because of our poor execution?

2:23.9

Okay, if we're not executing well, whether it's our like base motion offense or whether

2:29.3

set plays or both, okay, well, we can work on that in practice as well. We work on it 5 on 0,

2:35.7

5 on 5 and be better to X you. And then the third thing, T.J. Micah, is, well, maybe we're

2:42.1

struggling because of certain defenses are causing us issues. It could be a zone defense,

2:47.3

could be teams that pressure and make wing entries hard.

2:54.9

It could be that a team with a lot of length and plays, you know, whatever it is.

2:59.6

So try to identify because sometimes we just blanket it and we're like, man, we struggle to score.

3:00.1

We can't score on anybody.

3:02.2

Okay.

3:02.8

Thanks, coach.
