My guest today is Katie Shide.

Katie Shide won both Western States and UTMB this year.

She won that double and it was a big deal. She also broke the course record at UTNB by over 20 minutes. So this is pretty cool because in 23 last year she was second place at Western States and this year she was first. And this was her second time winning UTMB. She also won that race in 2022,

and she was sixth place in 2019. So she's really figured some things out. When we talked about

her win at UTMB over on the Relay podcast, my co-host over there, Matt Chittam, rambled. Rambling Runner. Get it, rambled. He goes by

the rambling runner, and I just used that word without even thinking about it. But anyway,

he rambled on and on about all the amazing things Katie has done and will likely do in her

career and just raved about how much of a force in ultra running this woman really is.

So I wanted to do my own investigating and also very much wanted to interview her.

And so this was super fun.

She lives in a very isolated the right word.

She lives in a, it's not even a town.

She lives in this very small

area in France and kind of just lives and trains out there with her partner. She likes to spend

a lot of time in the mountains, running, skiing, biking. And one cool thing about Katie is that

during the winters, she, she lives in the mountains.

She really does a lot of skiing.

And it's like the cross country skiing.
