Summary
Another Olympic Trials post race interview today! Jess Tonn McClain joins me today after her 4th place finish at the trials this past weekend. She ran such a strong race!! She is now your 2024 Olympic Marathon alternate for Team USA. She ran a four-minute PR in this race to run a 2:25:46.
This was only Jess’ third marathon. She ran the Grandma’s Marathon last summer in 2:29:25 and placed fourth. She also ran the Mesa Marathon in 2022. She talks about her progression and why she decided to run a marathon.
She is a former 5000m runner, that is what she was most known for during her professional running career post-college a few years back. She was an All-American at Stanford University.
Jess trained for this race all on her own. She coached herself and is unsponsored. She is doing things her way which she talks about in this episode!
Jess is also an Executive Director at Love Up which is an organization that supports the foster care system in Arizona! She is also a marketing consultant.
I’m so excited to share her story with you all today – enjoy this episode!!
