Summary

It’s an Alright Scary tradition to revisit the Scream franchise just in time for Halloween, and this year we’re Marying out on “Scream 3”! Despite a reputation for being a bit of a slump in the saga, we found a lot to appreciate—specifically Parker Posey. Neve’s back in her signature earth tones, Gail’s bangs have been slashed, Scott Foley inspires an important ranking of the Great Scotts of the era, and despite the lack of Kevin Williamson, the script has some surprisingly astute commentary about the dark underbelly of Hollywood (especially as a Miramax production).Want even more Alright Mary? Someone's going to pay for this. Jennifer, settle down. What happened?

I'm with him. You. Like I'm ever going to win an award playing you. There's about a second

order. Who? Sarah Darling. Where? At the studio. Where? Nancy Drew wants to know where.

0:50.0

Cottonweary, Sarah Darling. Don't you get it? Someone's killing them in the order they

done the movie. Do we who gets killed third? Who gets killed third? Mary, I've said it before

1:12.5

and I'm going to say it again. Anything that Parker Posey is in, she elevates. And I could

1:19.6

see how some people going into Scream 3 might have at one point felt the opposite and felt

1:27.6

that she was dragging down the affair or she was too funny or too scooby-doo. But I feel

1:35.3

like a, this is my first time seeing Scream 3 and two watching this now 23 years later,

1:43.8

it works perfectly. Like the movie needs this, needs this, it needs this energy. And in some

1:50.9

ways, I almost feel like she's functioning similarly to like a Randy. Like there's sort

1:55.3

of a meta humor to her in this movie in particular.

1:59.9

Yeah, that's a great way to put it. The meta being that she is playing Gell Weathers in

2:07.3

a movie with Gell Weathers. Yes. And that she's, you know, I think the line about

2:13.5

like, oh, right, like I'm ever, like I'd really shop at Judy's. Like I'm ever going to

2:17.2

like win an award playing you. You know, I think that like, I don't know, she's, or just

2:23.7

the whole idea of like, oh, you die next to the cast. So I'm going to die. And so I'm

2:28.5

going to follow you around everywhere you go. So that way they'll kill you instead of

2:32.5

me. Like it's, it is sillier than Scream 1 and Scream 2. But it didn't bother me. I

2:39.8

really think it worked. Listen, Hollywood actors. And I mean, this movie is very much not
