My name is Casey Fyte and my student today is Kelly. Jifamukti in Sanskrit means living liberated,

this practice of being enlightened.

Jiva Mukdi has five tenets.

The first one is a hymsa, the practice of nonviolence or compassion and caring.

We practice this through ethical vegetarianism,

animal rights, and the protection of the environment.

The second one is Bhakti, the yoga of devotion.

We offer our practice at the beginning of class, we chant,

and we lead a practice of service.

The third tenet of Jiva Mukti practice is meditation.

Meditation can be seated or moving meditation.

The practice of being present in the moment,

watching the movement of the mind,

and bringing ourselves back to the focus of the breath. NADAM is the fourth tenet in the Jiva Mukti practice, which means sound or vibration or energy.

We practice this through chanting, through sharing the poses in Sanskrit, and through uplifting music.

The fifth tenet of Jiva Mukti practice is Yoga Scripture.
