Summary

There comes a point in every business where the excitement of the new beginning fades and the real work begins and I think a lot of leaders are standing at that exact crossroads right now. In this episode of The Melanie Mitro Show, I’m pulling back the curtain on what I’ve learned 17 months into building my business in a new chapter, and how hosting my leadership retreat reminded me of the power of getting in the room, bringing the right energy, and dreaming bigger than what feels comfo...

Well, hey friends, it's Melanie Mitro, the host of the Melanie Mitro show. And welcome back. It is a new

0:06.9

episode. It's a new week. And I have been on the go. It is just a busy season for me. And today,

0:16.6

we're going to just really unpack some of the things that I really think are important in the direct

0:22.6

sales space, the direct sales industry, and things that sometimes we take for granted.

0:28.9

And the one thing that, you know, I am sort of deep in the trenches myself is it's not necessarily

0:36.4

a rebuild. It is building. I am building a business

0:41.6

and with a new company, it's been about 17 months now since I was forced to make that pivot

0:48.8

and start a new chapter of my career. And I've learned a lot of things after building my first business for

0:58.1

almost 14 years. And really towards the end of that season, the end of that chapter,

1:05.5

there were a lot of things that were on autopilot. There were a lot of things that scaled naturally because of the

1:11.5

momentum that I built early on. And as I moved and shifted into a new chapter and a new season,

1:19.0

there was a lot of momentum that was happening naturally in my business. And that really got things going. And I like to say,

1:29.1

sort of anytime you start a new job or you start a new business venture or new partnership,

1:34.7

you know, everything is roses, butterflies, nothing can go wrong. Everything is perfect. And

1:40.4

you're riding, again, momentum or market and people that know like and trust you and you're also

1:46.8

learning a new business, a new job, new roles and new ways of doing things. And what happens in there

1:53.8

is eventually the newness wears off and the natural momentum comes to a halt. And now you're sort of, and then also just you get

2:05.3

into a rhythm and routine. You start to understand the company. You start to kind of fall into

2:10.1

a new cadence. And I'm finding in this season, which I know because many of you that listen to the podcast, went through a similar

2:19.9

chapter and transition that I did. And so once the novelty and the newness wears off, this is really

2:26.3

where true grit comes into place. It's where the real leaders are actually found. It's where they're developed. It's where they

2:36.2

elevate. And it's also sort of in this season where the people that had maybe good positioning or
