to do list and more of a passionate adventure and speaking of marriage as to do lists, we're going to take a little bit of a

detour from our normal podcast this week because I have been reading some Christian teaching that's had me very upset.

As most of you know, back in January I took on the book Love and Respect because I read it for the first time then. I always assumed it was a great

book. I mean, it was a Christian book. I assumed that all Christian authors are after the same

thing I am, which is a marriage which feels intimate where both people feel valued, where both people feel like

they can be vulnerable so that they can be truly known and loved and accepted, and it turns

out I was wrong.

And this was really difficult for me

because I had just never understood how toxic some of the teaching was.

Now, some of you, you're not there and you don't actually care about all of this

stuff and so for you this podcast may not be necessary so I just invite you to take a look at some of the

episodes maybe you've missed we've got some great ones on making sex great on

splitting household chores all kinds of stuff like that and we will be getting back to

that next week don't worry but this week I had a number of readers send me in a blog post that was done by Emerson Eggrich and it just

reinforced to me some of the really toxic teaching that's coming out of that side of the church.

And so what I wanted to do today is I invited my husband onto this podcast.

It's going to be a longer podcast, I think, than normal, but we are going to take that

blog post.

We're going to read it paragraph by paragraph, and we're going to take that blog post. We're going to read it paragraph by paragraph

and we're going to show you how to recognize red flags when advice that you're given is bad.
