Hello again, patrons, and thank you for supporting the History of the Crusades podcast.

Last time we saw all non-Anna Baptists expelled from Munster.

It is now the end of February in the year 1534, the year designated by the Anabaptists as being the last year

ever. With Munster now purged of Catholic and Lutheran residents, the Prophet and the new

radical city council are all prepared for the apocalypse and to welcome the second

coming of Jesus Christ, events which to their minds could happen at any moment. There is just

one little problem though. The Bishop Prince of the wider region of Munster, France von

Valdek, has decided it's time to pull this rogue town back into line. His army has now

blocked all the roads leading to and from Munster and has begun a siege of the town.

Now, it's safe to say that the bishop prince did not want to besiege Munster

and had spent quite a few months exploring every other feasible way forward other than a siege, while taking his anger out on random

Anabaptists in neighbouring towns under his control. In his book The Taylor King, Anthony Arthur

reports that five women and one man were drowned in Volowbeck under the orders of the Bishop Prince,
