The Munster Rebellion Part 5

Hello again patrons and thank you for supporting the History of the Crusades podcast.

Last time, we saw things heating up in Munster. The influx of Radic residents to the town

had created a sort of powder keg atmosphere, which the two comers of Munster

was struggling to contain. Towards the end of the last episode, we saw a bunch of women,

which included half a dozen nuns, object vigorously about the preaching of a visiting moderate Lutheran priest,

with their protest including a lot of cursing, a lot of dung flinging, and a lot of unladylike

behaviour. Word of this event made its way to the Bishop Prince of Munster, Franz von Valdek,

who demanded that Yasby Odefeld, co-mare of the Council of Munster, and leader of its peacemaker

faction, travelled to meet with the Bishop Prince, along with the lawyer who had recently drafted

the peace agreement between the warring parties.

The bishop prince set the time and place for the meeting at his palace in the town of Telta,

which was located 12 kilometres to the east of Munster on the 2nd of February in the year 1434.
