The Munster Rebellion Part 4.

Hello again, patrons, and thank you for supporting the History of the Crusades podcast.

Last time, we saw tensions between the town of Munster and the new Bishop Prince of the wider region of Munster,

France von Valdeck, resolve after the signing of a truce between the parties in February of 1533.

Basically, under the terms of the truce, the hostages held by both sides would be returned,

and religious freedom would descend over Munster,

with both Lutherans and Catholics allowed to worship freely inside the town without fear of persecution.

As we learned at the end of the last episode, this might have been the end of the matter,

if not for the fact that the town of Munster had recently been inundated by a bunch of new residents who had relocated to the town following the distribution

of pamphlets by priest Bernard Rodman and councillor Kniebidolling across northern Germany

and the low countries.

Now, these newcomers will be making their way to Munster for the remainder of the year 1533.
