Hello again, patrons, and thank you for supporting the History of the Crusades podcast.

Last time we saw a bit of a situation brewing in Munster.

A charismatic young priest, Bernard Raltman, had become an Anabaptist and had defied a direct order from the Bishop

Prince of the wider region of Munster to cease and desist. The Bishop Prince, whose name was

Frederick von Vida, then directed the Council of the Town of Munster to expel Bernard from the town.

Bernard failed to comply with this order as well, and alarmingly for the Bishop Prince, some of the

members of the town council switched their allegiance to Bernard and accompanied him and many of

the more radical citizens of Munster on a violent, destructive rampage through the town.

As we discussed in the last episode, the most prominent of the breakaway counsellors was a merchant named Bernard Knappodolling,

a man who held an understandable grudge against the bishop prince due to the fact that the

bishop prince had, a few years earlier, ordered Knipe-Dolling to be seized, imprisoned and tortured

in order to extort money from his family. With most of the churches inside Munster having
