episode 32. In today's episode, we are going to visit some amazing places that are a reminder of a time period that surrounds the Second World War.

This World War took place during the 1940s and is one of the most complex and fascinating events that has ever

taken place in the history of the world.

It is so complex in fact that it would take years and years to study

every single aspect of every event and every person who was involved.

And since we can't learn about everything in this podcast,

we are going to focus on an abandoned place that has been turned into an important museum to protect and

preserve it.

We're also going to learn about how thousands of people hid underground while their city was being bombed above them.

Let's take a few minutes to paint a backdrop for the events and places we're going to visit

in this episode.

Starting in January of 1933, when Adolf Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany and his political party, the Nazis,

also called the Third Reich, took power.

The world began marching steadily toward war.

You might remember Hitler from our previous episode

about Belize Helstatin, the deserted military hospital in Germany.

And you probably know that Hitler was an extremely evil person whose hatred, bigotry, and racism nearly destroyed Europe and pretty much
