It's a pleasure to be here, Richard.

Will you just give us a little bit of an introduction to our listeners about who you are

and the things that you'd like to share on this podcast?

Sure. So I'm coming at this from a lot of the people you've had on the show, I guess I,

my origins are in the genetic genealogy industry. So first, he doesn't quite know what that

is. Basically what I do is to learn more about their family and about themselves.

So the industry itself is relatively young, comparatively, and I've been in it since the beginning.

So going on 20 years, actually, since I've really been a part of this industry.

So it's really only gained speed maybe in the last 10 or so as big companies start to get involved.

And it was fascinating for me when we talked the other day that tell our listeners,

how many companies are there that actually do whatever it's called where you get your DNA history?

Tell our listeners how many companies they are and then what your role is within that world.

Right. So there are actually now five companies who essentially offer the service where you give them either a cheek swab where you're using like a swab to swab the inside of your mouth or what they call a saliva collection, which is just a fancy way of saying they're collecting your spit.

And they give you information about your heritage, about your ancestors. So they really give you

two kinds of information. You get information that's going to link you to other people in the form

of a DNA match list, so a list of other people who's taken a DNA test to share ancestors with you

at some level. And then you also get a map with percentages.

So it'll say that you're 22% British and 14% Italian and things like that. So other companies
