| 0:38.4 | What's up, guys? So today on the podcast, we start off with a little bit of a diet ramble. So I got into the diet ramble. And it was supposed to be a short one, but we got into a little bit deep. And we talk about the stuff that I like to eat and sort of the way that I like to approach my diet in relation to training. So I get the most out of my performance, you know, when I'm on the map and even off the mat, you know, because it's about feeling good on and off the mat all the time. And then afterwards, we do a live Q&A with everybody on YouTube because this one was a live, um, originally it was supposed to be just a live Q&A, but we did the rant first. Um, so anyway, guys, hope you guys enjoy the podcast, learn a few things. And, uh, thank you so much for joining us. The one that I wanted to start with today, as far as like a little bit of a chewy ramble, |
| 0:43.5 | if you guys read the email this morning that I sent out, if you're on the email list, |
| 0:46.6 | then you got that. |
| 0:47.9 | But basically it came, the other day I was on, you know, during Sundays, I usually basically |
| 0:53.0 | just read and just hang out all day I |
| 0:56.1 | didn't really do much and I got into you know I was reading one of my history books that I had |
| 1:00.5 | and I figured I would share it because you know most people aren't history geeks right most |
| 1:04.5 | people don't get that deep into it but everybody kind of knows that if you know especially in the |
| 1:08.3 | west the Romans right they're kind of the badasses of the ancient West. |
| 1:13.1 | And one of the things that they did really well is sort of an overlooked weapon. |
| 1:17.7 | Like a lot of times people focus, like when they look at, you know, these, especially even |
| 1:21.5 | history geeks like me, like military history geeks, we look at the weapons used. |
| 1:27.4 | We look at the way that they fought the battles. |
| 1:29.7 | We look at the strategy that was used. But a lot of times we don't always check out some of the |
| 1:34.8 | things that are a little bit more simple, which is, or not simple, but some of the things are |
| 1:38.0 | often overlooked are the logistical qualities of it, right? So one of the things that, you know, |
| 1:43.5 | I was reading about the Romans that |
| 1:45.0 | was, I thought was really interesting was about 90% of their supplies was food or food related |
| 1:51.0 | items or items that revolved around food, right? And I'll get to why that's important in a second |
| 1:55.2 | for Jiu-Jitsu because that's where my mind goes. And so basically one of the reasons, one of the huge contributors to their ability to |
| 2:02.7 | fight so ferociously at a, at that time period, was the fact that they could consistently |
| 2:07.1 | and effectively feed their troops. Napoleon even famously declared that an army marches on his |
