I'm a singer listening to episode 264 and my guest is Lopez Lamon.

If you are in my Facebook group then you know that I've wanted to get Lopez on the show

for a very long time and I'm so excited to have him on.

I read his book probably around a year and a half ago running for my life where he shares

all about his life growing up and his journey to the United States at the age of 16.

He unpacks a lot of the book in this podcast episode but you all need to go buy the book

because it's so so good.

Lopez was born in South Sudan and at the age of six he was taken from his family while

attending a church service and held in captivity.

He escaped from the camp he was being held at with three other older boys and they crossed

the border to Kenya where they then he then lived in a refugee camp for the next 10 years.

He shares all about the story in the podcast and in his book and after coming to America

in 2001 he ended up becoming a two-time Olympian and he competed in the 2008 and the 2012

Olympics.

And he now runs with the Barrowman Track Club.

At the age of 35 he just ran a PR in the 5K with a time of 1258.
