Hello everyone and welcome to the Stephen King cast, one man's musings on the works of Stephen King.

Each week I will review one entry in the bibliography of Stephen King and the chronological order of publication.

And what I am reviewing today is the film adaptation of the short story, the much beloved, it turns out, the short story, the mangler.

Just a quick note on this episode.

This intro that you are hearing right now is recorded in 2026.

This episode is from, God, almost a decade ago, July 24th, 2017.

So at this point, if you are going through the podcasts, like starting from the beginning and making your way through, I have reordered the podcasts than how they had originally aired.

And the reason I'm doing this is to keep everything together by that original conceit of the chronological order of publication.

So when the mangler, I first reviewed the mangler, the minger, it was years after, a few

years after I first started the podcast where I had chunked one half of the night shift stories.

And I just focused on that. And then I kept going with the chronological order of publication. And I just focused on that.

And then I kept going with the chronological order of publication.

And I got to the next book and so on and so forth.

And then once I completed it, I then went back and I did the other half of the short stories that I hadn't covered.

And so that's what you get today.

Everything is now in close proximity to one another. So everything related to night shift

is right there. So that's good in terms of organization. What might be a little bit dissonant

for you is the fact that in the previous episode, it was recorded in 2014, 2015, and this one

is a couple of years later. So in the previous episode, there may be mention of, of, 2015, and this one is a couple of years later. So in the previous episode,

um, there, there may be mention of, of, um, events that, uh, um, I, I might not refer back to

anecdotal events, not, not events from the book. Um, so I just, I want everyone to be aware

that there is, there, there may be a little bit skipping around in time,
