I'm your host Lindsay. Thank you so much for being here today.

Today we're rounding out the first series of the Saint Vincent Sports Reformants series

with episode 219 and I'm speaking with Dr. Joel Carey.

Dr. Carey is a sports medicine physician with Saint Vincent Sports Performance.

Dr. Carey serves as the team physician for Butler University and he's also a team physician

for USA Track and Field. His work as a sports medicine physician has included serving

at the USA Track and Field Championships, USA National Gymnastics Championships, and

the World Swimming Championships, Big Ten Basketball Championships, and numerous other

national and international sporting events. He's a former college runner and after having

some injuries himself, he stepped away from the sport for a bit but recently has picked

up running a little bit more. Over the past few years he's run six marathons and he has

a marathon PR of 257 which we will talk about in this episode, his unique way of how he

trained for that marathon, different than most of us probably trained. He also recently

ran the New York City Marathon in 2019 in a time of 308 so we talk about that a little

bit since New York is still pretty fresh to me as I just ran it for the first time this

year as well. Any of my friends or family or people I coach, anybody at all, I recommend

when an issue pops up and they need to see a doctor that they go see Dr. Kerry. He is

always the doctor Glenn and I go to actually when I tore my plan or fascia, I went and
