Today we're listening to episode 214 and I'm talking with Obsay Baroo.

Obsay recently placed second at the CIM marathon.

She ran a time of 230, which was a five minute PR.

And the crazy thing is, is she ran a one minute PR just a couple of months before at the Twin Cities Marathon.

So she is having a year.

Obsay is Ethiopian born and she moved to the United States at the age of 12.

We get to hear all about her story there and how she came to the United States in a little bit about her background.

Once she moved to the United States, she grew up in Iowa, ran for Grandview University, and she's really humble.

She acted like her high school career was nothing too impressive, but then she went on to tell me she did place

fourth in state, which I thought was a pretty big deal.

After college, she went and ran with the Northeast Distance Group,

coached by Kurt Benninger, which is Molly Huddle's husband, and she had so many wonderful things to say about them.

She now lives in Phoenix, and she is working full time as an academic advisor and also pursuing her master's degree.

She is a really positive and just a really great, like holistic view on running and having a really good balance

for everything else in her life.
