In my experience, most of the people I work with don't fail because they like discipline or motivation.

They fail because they're often too exhausted to even build a system. And my question becomes,

what if the solution isn't to do more or delete more, but is to notice more? Good morning. Welcome to

the Increase Your Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 2,2009. I was once working with someone who

told me that they are too overwhelmed to build a system. He goes on to say his schedule is packed,

he's got work, he's got family, he's so busy that he's not even sleeping. And he felt,

with all this talk about creating systems, that it was just another thing to add to his

impossible list of to-dos.

So I told him something that kind of surprised him.

I said, what if you don't have to build a system?

Just be aware of the current system you have.

No writing, no tracking, no apps, no extra effort. Just notice two things, green moments

and red moments. Green moments represent the moments that give you energy, is what I told him,

and then red moments are the moments that drain your energy. And I said, we're going to take away

yellow. We don't need any ambiguity.

We just red or green.

And for seven days, that's what he did.

All he did was pay attention.

And when it was over, he came back surprised by what he saw.

He noticed that green moments were certain people.

They were, they were, they were, it was being with his family.

It was, it was being at home with his kids and playing with his kids. And the red moments, there were certain meetings, certain conversations, certain habits,
