Good morning and welcome to the Increase Room Impact Podcast. I'm Justin's episode 227. It's easy to beat up on

yourself when you make mistakes. Easy to look in a mirror and talk about how bad you are to yourself.

And I want to give you a different frame today. Firstly, that mistakes are normal.

Everyone makes mistakes.

Smart people make mistakes.

Experienced people make mistakes.

The best in the world make mistakes.

They're not random.

They happen in the same way.

And in some cases, they're predictable,

especially in high performance competition.

But teams where common mistakes are made over and over again, they don't point the finger and just say,

it's that player's fault. It's that person's fault. It's that person's fault.

They say, what is it about our system that is

causing these people, our people, to make the same mistakes over and over again? It's not pointing

fingers at the person. It's pointing a finger at the system. And these systems are built to catch

mistakes. They're able to look at it and say,

what are we doing or what are we not doing that are allowing for these things, for these things that

occur and reoccur over and over again. They create clear roles. They set up backup plans.

They train better. They come to the table and they come up with ways on how to reduce air, knowing that it's inevitable. They just want to reduce it. The goal isn't zero mistakes. The goal is small mistakes, learning from those stakes and avoiding the kinds of mistakes that will do huge damage, minimizing the grave,

minimizing grave mistakes.

And so my invitation to you today is to, instead of beating up on yourself and saying
