Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Suwa, episode 2184.

There is a major league baseball player that I work with who texts me the same question after every single game.

And the question is this, what did you see? He always asked me that. What did you see?

One time I texted him great job after a game.

And he replied back very quickly.

He said, but what did you see?

This showed me that specific thoughtful feedback is what truly matters to him.

He can get the good job from fans. He can get the good job from family. But what he wants from me is the things that I observed, the little nuance, the tiny

things that matter a lot to him. And if you want to increase your impact as a coach or as a leader or as a teammate or as a

friend, a team captain, whatever you are, you want to praise people by going beyond the generic

good job, the generic out of a boy, whatever, at a girl, whatever it is. Instead, you want to

tell them specifically what you

noticed their effort anticipation execution attitude specific observations on what they did

provide tangible feedback that they can use to improve and repeat next time it gives them

something in their mind a tangible tangible evidence, a thing that

they can go back and do. Meaningful feedback encourages growth. And so my invitation to you is the next

time you want to go and pray someone, just tell them good job, take the time and pause and say, you know what,

I'm going to tell them what I noticed instead. And that's the kind of feedback that goes a long way.
