reminded of an interview between Ahmad Rashad and Kobe Bryant. I believe it was back in 2004 or 2005.

Ahmad asked this question, but through the expectations of the, they're talking about the upcoming season.

Now, they're coming off the heels of two bad Laker seasons. And they were talking about how

tough the scene is there were and how Kobe doesn't want to experience that. And Amad Rashad

asked this question. He says, but the expectations of the fans that Kobe and Kobe Bryant interrupts him.

He doesn't even let him finish the question. And Kobe says, their expectations, their expectations will

never be higher than my own. Never, never, never, never. Four nevers. Their expectations will never be

higher than my own. Never, never, never, never. He didn't even let Ahmad Rashad finish the question.

Once he said the expectations of the fans, Kobe ended it right there. And he goes, I don't, essentially,

I don't care what their expectations are. They will never, never, never, never be higher than my own.

And it got me thinking about you listening to this. And those who, if you're trying to lead people,

if you want to be great, the expectations that others have for you can, in Kobe's words, never, never, never, never, never be higher than your

own.

One thing I have learned working with these athletes at the highest level in many sports is that

they're always harder on themselves than anybody else can be because their standards of

excellence are higher for themselves than anyone else can place on them.

And I think that becomes a very,

that becomes one of the hallmarks for elite performance,

for great leaders, for great parents,

for great captains, for great athletes,

is, are your standards higher for you than anyone else can put on you. And so my question for you is if you're
