Having been part of professional sports for about 10 years or so, I know what it feels like to be in a locker room or a clubhouse when the losses start to stack up. It's a terrible feeling.

And it's this message is for any one out there who's going through a tough time, particularly if

you're a coach, leading a team when the losses just start stacking up. What happens is, is there's a shift.

There's a shift that begins to happen in the way coaches show up.

Communication slows, energy gets heavier.

What once was light, hearted, and connected now kind of feels cautious, feels a little

tense, the laughs fade, the people start

protecting themselves, some start pulling back and don't talk as much, others are quietly

pointing fingers, and this moment, in that moment, that's when great leadership is required.

Because it's during these moments, great coaching staffs respond effectively.

They embrace these tough times together.

They communicate more, not less.

They name what's happening.

They put it out on the table.

They reset expectations.

And they pull each other closer.

They don't let people run and hide.

They stay grounded in trust.

They give back to the fundamentals.

And they recommit to their shared ownership of what's going on.
