Good morning and welcome to the Increase Rain Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode

0:03.9

2009. One of the biggest traps that we fall into as leaders, especially at the highest level,

0:12.5

is that we start communicating from what we know instead of from what it feels like to receive it

0:18.5

from the other person's perspective.

0:25.6

We've said the same message a hundred times, especially if you've been a leader for a long time. We know the system, we know the standard, we know the culture we're building.

0:30.6

But the truth is the people who are leading, the people who are coaching, they don't always hear it in a way that we intend to

0:40.2

share it. So my invitation to you today is to consider a shift to borrow their eyes, to borrow their

Or maybe it's a player who's been grinding through an injury and questioning if he'll ever get

1:26.7

back to the player he was.

1:28.9

Or maybe it's a player who she's finishing up her last year in college and she's never

1:34.9

going to play again or he's never going to play again. When you borrow their eyes, ears, and heart,

1:40.9

you don't just say what's right. You say what resonates. You don't soften the truth

1:45.5

necessarily, but you deliver it in a way that lands emotionally, practically, and personally, most

1:52.2

important. So my invitation is to see how they see it, hear how they hear it, feel how they feel it.

1:59.8

Because you can have the perfect message, and I've seen this happen before,

2:03.1

where you have the perfect message, but it doesn't land.

2:06.8

And if it doesn't land, it's because it doesn't matter.
