2097. Sometimes as a coach, you'll walk into the locker room, the me team meeting,

or you're watching your practice and it just hits you that the team that you are leading

or coaching isn't the one you imagined yourself having. The season isn't going well,

the tournament's not going well, whatever it is. Just the one you're actually coaching is not the

one that is on paper. Maybe they're distracted. Maybe someone's in a bad mood. Maybe your

leaders are quiet. And it's easy to get frustrated because in your mind,

you imagine a completely different group. They're more locked in. They're more motivated. They're

easier to lead. But the truth is, you can't lead the team in your head. You have to lead

the team that's actually in front of you. Because real leadership, it starts when you stop wishing

that your players and your coaching staff is different. And it starts when you start responding to

who they are right now and what you're given in the moment. It doesn't mean lowering the standards.

It doesn't mean changing your vision. It's adjusting your approach.

Are they tired? Okay, bring energy. Are they tense? All right. Let's be more calm. Are they lost?

Let's bring clarity. It's modeling the behavior and adapting to what they actually need.

Not necessarily forcing a plan no matter what and shoving it down their

throats, but it's reading the room and responding to what they need. So my invitation to you

today is to think, whatever room you walk into, pause, notice what's going on, and then to lead

that room, that practice, practice that energy the players that

you have in that moment because that is where real leadership lives have a great day and

we'll do it again next time
