20081. Today we're talking about the thing or something, one thing, one thing, not the thing.

You guys know how I don't like singular silver bullets, but one of the things that separates

real leaders from pretenders. This is the difference between understanding something deeply and understanding

it at a surface level knowledge and not just understanding it, but coming off like you know something

more than you really do. And it reminds me of a story. I think I've shared this with you all before.

It's an apocryphal story, meaning that it may or may not be true.

I would guess that it's not.

It's more of a parable or a metaphor.

But it's a story about a gentleman named Max Planck, the Nobel Prize winning physicist.

And after he won the award, he went on a speaking tour across Germany.

And he gave the same lecture over and over

again. Now, his chauffeur, who traveled with him, listened to every single word he gave, and he had

heard it about 50 times, so many times to the point to where he made a request to Dr. Plank.

And he said, Dr. Plank, I've memorized your entire talk.

I could probably give it myself.

Plank, who was obviously amused, decided to test him.

And he said, you know what, let's do it.

At the next event in Munich, you give this speech, and I'll sit in a front row dressed

up as you.

And so they went on.

The chauffeur put on Max Planck's hat.
