2008. Today we're talking about confirmation bias. It's easy to notice in the wild and it's actually

much easier to notice in others instead of noticing it in ourselves. Let me give you an example.

It's when a coach labels somebody and every time they do something or they say something

or they don't do something that label is so strong, the coach looks at it and says,

yep, it's because they're this.

Yep, it's because they're that. Yep, it's because they're that.

However, every time this person, let's just say they work hard or they stack wins or they work

outside of that label that the coach gives them, that coach dismisses it.

Or they don't even notice it.

That's called a confirmation bias.

It's when you only see what reinforces what you already believe.

And you ignore everything that challenges it.

And it doesn't just happen with players.

It happens with decision making, game planning, hiring, leadership, the way you think, political views, you name it.

If you're a coach or a leader, maybe you love a certain way of doing things.

So you only notice when it works and you dismiss all the times when it doesn't work.

Or maybe you are convinced a coach on

your coaching staff or a person isn't cut out for the job so you gloss over all of the ways that

they're improving we see this with players you kind of you players in your doghouse or you label a player a certain way,

and you don't even notice the good that they're doing. Us as parents, we do it for our own

children sometimes. But the problem with that is, when you only see what you expect to see,
