2079. Today we're talking about focusing on the finish and not the friction as leaders.

There are moments that test us, the ones where you know exactly what needs to be done,

but everything inside of you is resisting it.

It might be a tough conversation you've been putting off.

Maybe it's holding a player accountable when you know they won't like it if you're a coach.

Maybe if you're a leader, it's making that extra phone call,

watching one more film session or pushing yourself to show up with energy when you are

absolutely drained.

In those moments, it's easy to focus on how hard it feels right now.

But my invitation to you is to not focus on how it feels in the moment, but to focus on

how you're going to feel when it's done.

As athletes, I remember growing up

and thinking about early morning practices.

No one wants to wake up at five in a morning,

but when it's over, I remember being glad that I did it.

I remember feeling a little sharper,

feeling like you're ahead,

but, and you feel better because you showed up. And that's the same thing with leadership.

It's uncomfortable to challenge a player who's not giving their best. But when you do,

when you step into that conversation, when you hold the standard and push that person to grow,

that's when you make the impact.
