Good morning and welcome to the Increaser Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 2078.

As a coach, sometimes it is frustrating when the people that you lead, the players and other coaches and the coaching staff resist change.

They want change, but they resist it.

And your role as a leader becomes helping them change.

And the reason a lot of people don't want to change is because change is uncomfortable.

It disrupts routines.

It challenges their beliefs.

It forces them into the unknown.

And in some cases, it challenges their identity it threatens their

identity and that's why most people resist it not because they don't want to improve or get better

but because they fear what they might lose in the process they don't resist change itself

they resist the loss of control, uncertainty, fear of failure, stepping into

the unknown. And when a player resists a new technique, they might resist it because they're

afraid it won't work. A team resists a new system or a new scheme because they're worried that they won't fit into it.

A leader resists feedback or a coach resists feedback because it forces them to question who they are and how they've always done things.

And so you as a leader or as a coach can help them embrace change.

How do you do that?

I would invite you to consider three things.

Make it safe.

Make it small.

And make it make it make sense.

Make it safe by creating an environment where failure isn't punished, but it's an opportunity to learn.
