Hello and welcome back to another episode of the Year of Polygamy podcast. I'm your host Lindsay,

and it's great to be talking to you again. A special note of thanks to those who supported

a year of polygamy in 2022. If you've noticed, we've been revamping the site, updating episodes

with better show notes, better sources, better links, better photographs. So thanks for all the

years of support for this podcast. It's really meant a lot. One of the most rewarding things is seeing

how it has inspired so many people within the Mormon community and Mormon adjacent community

to look into their own family history. And I always love it when folks send me emails, even if I

can't respond to all those emails. I really appreciate the nice notes that you send and just all the

love you've shown me over the years. Tonight's episode is going to be really special and fun because I'm

bringing on a friend and hero of mine, Todd Compton, who wrote the book in Sacred Loneliness.

It inspired this podcast in so many ways.

Back in the good old bad days of blogging, I was writing for feminist Mormon housewives. It was a

blog started by Lisa Butterworth, an amazing woman who's sort of my midwife who brought me into

this world of Mormon feminism. And I blogged with all these incredible

Mormon women about Mormon issues. And, you know, it became such a passion of mine that I

started a little series on what we call FMH, the blog, about the wives of Joseph Smith,

polling from Todd Compton's research, and that eventually turned into this podcast and turned into the history

of Mormon polygamy. So it's really great to sort of come full circle and have an episode with Todd.

We're going to get into the interview with him. I just want to give a special thanks to Todd's lovely

sisters, Tina, Tammy, and Terry Ann, who do the readings for us at the end. They're fantastic. So we're going to pull from Todd's new book. Todd has a new book out, which is kind of the old book. It's the same book in Sacred Loneliness that has taught so many of us about the lives and wives of Joseph Smith. And his new edition in Sacred Loneliness, the documents that you can buy from signature books at benchmark books is in addition,

a supplement to the great work that he's already done. He includes a lot of the letters and
