for a while now. It's a very personal episode for my guest, so I hope you'll engage it respectfully.

Maroni Jessup is a practicing Mormon fundamentalist, which means he believes in what he interprets as a

fundamental doctrines of early Mormonism. He joins thousands of others in the practice of plural

marriage and law of consecration and things like that.

He's dedicated his life to this.

And over the years, through the interactions of the podcast and in the historical community,

Marone and I have become good friends.

Maronai is somewhat of a protector in this community whenever I or other women run into dangerous situations.

You know, in the fringes of any community, you'll run into people who are unwell or have

unprocessed trauma or aren't doing their work or mental illness that they aren't dealing with.

And that can lead to a lot of scary

behaviors and things. And Moronite has often been there when I've encountered some really

scary situations with some Mormon fundamentalists who aren't necessarily stable. So I've appreciated

him for that. I appreciate his ability to stand up for what he believes in, whether that's his

belief in belief itself in Mormon fundamentalism, which is often controversial, or when he

stands up against those of his own faith and belief system. We're going to talk about that today.

What I think is one of the most interesting things is the idea of DNA and Mormonism.
