decade has won himself a devoted international audience with his irresistible

blend of jazz, blues, soul and gospel, not to mention his formidable vocal chops.

To date he's performed with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison, Jules Holland,

Marcus Miller, Laura Mervula, Ragenbone Man, Leila Hathaway, Jeff Goldblum and Jamie Cullen.

In August of 2020 he dropped his long-awaited sixth studio album, The Quite Superb All Rise,

which debuted at Number 3 in the UK Album Chart and in November was nominated for a Grammy in the category

of Best R&B Album.

A few weeks before that he joined us over Zoom from his home in California

to talk about the record and much more.

Well I believe that's his next project so I guess we'll find out. Our guest was born in Sacramento, California in 1971 and raised in Bakersfield.

He was encouraged by his mother to sing in church from a very early age and later discovered his

hero Nackin Cole via his mom's record collection.
