Tonight, we honor a group of people who are strong, resilient, and who are finally being

given opportunities in a town that has long shut them out.

I am, of course, talking about men in film.

We men only comprise the discouraging 96% of all cinematographers, a depressing 85%

of all writers, and a completely disheartening 91% of directors.

As these numbers prove, we are completely invisible.

But we stayed strong in the face of adversity, and finally, have some news to celebrate.

This year, 100% of all summer blockbusters were held by men, a rare feat that's only

happened 80 other times.

For achievement in cinematography, the nominees are Immanuel Lubesky for Birdman or the unexpected

virtue of ignorance, Robert Yelman for the Grand Budapest Hotel, Lukash Yal and Re-Shard
