I'm Martin yelling, he's Tom Williams, and this is Marathon Talk. Welcome to episode 17 of marathon talk. On this week's show we're feeling pretty optimistic and up-tempo all round.

Tom, what have you been up to?

Well, I've been nursing my legs back to back to recovery since London.

It's funny those extra few miles don't know if to make a difference

that it was it was definitely an easier effort than my long 22 mile training

run and not as hilly and all that stuff and I felt great

afterwards but boy my legs hurt for a few days and you know it really was kind

of Thursday or Friday before I felt me in life come back into them. I'm pleased you said that though because they should really ache after a marathon.

How can you say it was easier than your long run?

Well it was wasn't it?

Because I was running about 30 seconds a mile slower than I thought I should be able to.

So it wasn't a maximum effort at all at any point.

So the idea was that we chatted last week, didn't we, about the day a mile to recover the 26 days,

but I couldn't afford a day a mile, I could only afford kind of a week to recover.

And so I had to take it easy.

So I wasn't quite expecting the level of domes that I got but my legs were sore.

But I was back on my bike by the weekend and I managed, I think I managed about 15 hours on my bike over the three days and a 25 mile
