anesthesia at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. We did a great

podcast a little while back and are now back for another. Today we're going to be talking about a really

important and highly tested topic within OB anesthesia and that is

All right, so we're going to talk, as I said,

about hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. So why don't I said about hypertensive disorders of pregnancy? So why don't I start by asking you to just give us a list of what those are and then we'll talk about them one by one?

Sure.

So the hypertensive disorders in pregnancy,

we basically have four categories.

So we have chronic hypertension, which

is hypertension that is present before pregnancy, before 20 weeks of pregnancy, to be more precise.

And then we have gestational hypertension that presents after 20 weeks of pregnancy and is defined by

as systolic pressure greater than 140 millimeters of mercury and a diastolic greater
