Hello and welcome back a really exciting show today a little unusual we are

going to talk about an innovative program in medical education.

Should be a blast and we are really looking forward to it. All right now on with the show. We have here at

Johns Hopkins the one and only program in the country that is a combined

training program in emergency medicine and anesthesia. Graduates will be board certified or eligible to be board certified in both specialties.

And I have with me Dr. Linda Reagan, who is the program director for the emergency medicine residency here and the Program Director for the

Combined Program and Dr. Labin Lester, who listeners will know from being on

prior podcast is one of our cardiac andesthesiologists and is an Associate

Program Director for the combined program.

I also am an associate program director for the combined program, so there's my conflict of interest

there.

But really what we want to do is talk about the program and how it developed, and I actually wasn't part of the

initial development where Linda and Leven were and so I'm really interested to

hear from them how this came about and we'd like listeners to get an idea

because some of you may actually be interested if your medical

students in thinking about this as a future career is a really exciting option and

we do think actually that there's going to be more of these programs throughout the
