We met with Ian back in May this year at Elevator Studios in Liverpool where he was rehearsing

with the band for some summer gigs

and it was a real pleasure to finally meet him as he's someone we've wanted on the show for quite some time, isn't he?

He certainly is.

Ian was born in Liverpool in 1958 and grew up just around the corner from Penny Lane.

He was introduced to the joys of pop music in the 60s via Radio Caroline and his elder

brother's record collection and was also captivated by hearing his dad and uncles sing he'll never walk alone on the copper Anfield.

He started writing songs around the age of 12 inspired by the likes of the Beatles, Dylan and the birds,

later discovering Bowie and Bolin and later still becoming enamored with punk. He left school at 16 and began hanging out at the Liverpool School of Language, Dream and Pun.
