Summary

Smack in the middle of finding success (and the yellow jersey!) at the Green Mountain Stage Race, I wanted to sit down and talk with Sam Boardman about all things contemporary professional cycling. From his days at UCLA through the wild times at Wildlife Generation and Legion, right up through the present in his impressive European debut with Project Echelon, Sam has stories to tell! And if you can't get enough here, then be sure to read what he's written at The Escape Collective in his Rookie Report. Check out the King Challenge and please please join us if you're available October 12: KingChallenge.org. 0:39.1

The perfect time of year late in the summer.

0:40.7

I shared a room at the West Hill B&B with Tim Johnson,

0:44.1

who was about to kick off his cyclocross season.

0:47.0

I won a stage.

0:48.0

I enjoyed a day or two.

0:49.3

Yeah, two days in yellow.

0:50.7

Our comrade, Jeremy Powers, won the overall.

0:53.0

It was the best. It remains the best.

That said, I basically thought I'd ridden all the road races, all the stage races I'd ever ride

1:03.2

right up until Laura seated the idea a few weeks ago. Hey, Ted, would you ever race the Green Mountain

1:07.9

stage race? And I had oddly just been thinking about

1:12.0

the race the day prior. It is a stunning time of year, spectacular, humidity-free, sunny weather,

1:18.6

leaves are starting to change, riding some of Vermont's most iconic roads. There's a sweet

1:25.0

prologue, a fun circuit race, a spectacular road race, a downtown Burlington

1:30.3

Criterium.
