Summary

Welcome one of the world's very best at cyclocross (and pretty handy on all types of bikes), Joris Nieuwenhuis! Hey everyone, welcome back to King of the Ride podcast. I am Ted King, your host, very excited to deliver another great show.

Your well-traveled host, I should say, we wrapped up a four-week family van trip that took us clear across the country, from Vermont to Washington.

There were a couple gravel raises along the way, a family wedding,

and then we made it home for a single night's sleep in our own beds in Vermont

before heading off to Sweden.

We were there for the UCI gravel race, the Gravel World Championships qualifier,

the whole family in tow, the kids, Laura, and me.

We also had my big brother along for the adventure.

It was a blast.

I'm excited to have experienced my first taste of the UCI in gravel.

It seems to be taking off like gangbusters in Europe as exhibited by the level of talent on the start line.

But also how deep the field was. Big numbers represented both

at the front and the back of the pack. A very, very well-run race, a very fun event. Overall, it was a

really nice time in a section of the world that I've never been before, which is always new and exciting.

I'm really happy with the experience. And among that start line talent is silver medalist

at last year's cyclocross World Championships, the reigning and multi-time Dutch national

champion in cyclocross, the World Cup race winner, the once upon a time world tour cyclist,

the two-time tour to France finisher, Yoris Nievenhouse. Now look, I'm a cycling fan. I'm watching

the Vuelta as we speak. I just wrapped up watching the women's tour to France. Much like you, I assume,

I was glued to the TV all throughout July to watch the men's tour. Similarly, all throughout the

fall and winter, I'm watching cyclocross in my weekend mornings.
