Summary

ADOPTION SERIES PART THREE   Sam Collier couldn’t be blamed for seeing his story as one of abandonment. Born to a 21-year-old single mother, Sam and his twin sister were given up for adoption. His birth parents never reached out, and he spent the entire time he was growing up never meeting either of his birth parents or the three other siblings he didn’t even know he had. But Sam looked past the abandonment to see what God was doing, and the faith to make that decision changed his life and the lives of his family. To close out our adoption series, Sam sits down with Davey to share his own greater story and how he’s made it his life’s mission to help others find theirs.   Episode Resources: Purchase Sam’s Book, A Greater Story Visit Sam’s website Check out Sam preaching at Hillsong   Other Resources: Visit My Pain to Purpose Plan. Aubrey, we are in the last episode of this adoption series. I'm really excited about it because this guest is,

0:36.0

I mean, hopefully some of our listeners have heard of him. He's fairly well-known, Sam Collier.

0:42.0

Yeah, he's a great preacher. I feel like a lot of our listeners will have, or at least now,

0:47.0

they're going to be inspired to, right?

0:49.0

Yeah, well, absolutely. But maybe even as he kind of unfolds a story a little bit,

0:53.0

some people might be, oh yeah, I remember that, or I've seen that, or whatever.

0:56.0

But it's a really cool story about adoption. And just very unique the way his adoption story unfolded

1:05.0

in the sense of how he met his biological mom specifically. And he says something in this episode

1:14.0

that, man, when he said that, I was like, wow, that is so profound. And it's so helpful for all of us to understand this.

1:23.0

But he said something about the other side, on the other side of surrender is blessing or the miraculous

1:30.0

or God comes through when you surrender to him. But there's like this faith step process

1:38.0

that, it's like a prerequisite, an act of faith. And I was just thinking about that in terms of,

1:45.0

I mean, that is just such a true statement, but it's also very, it's very unnerving to think about.

1:55.0

I think it's a hard statement, right? And we can tend to go, oh, well, that's legalism or something, right?

2:03.0

Like what you're saying is I have to, I don't know, I have to earn God's favor, I have to,

2:07.0

but I don't think that's it always saying. I think it's not about God's love for you or God's acceptance for you.

2:13.0

It's that on the other side of obedience, on the other side of surrender, there's fruitfulness, right?
