This week, we're broadcasting live from Woodsboro High School discussing the 1996 satirical slasher, scream. The film was

written by Kevin Williamson and directed by the late, great West Craven. The film was something

of a game changer for horror in the 1990s and provided a desperately needed recharge of the genre.

With its ensemble cast, biting commentary, and iconic costume, the film became a commercial and critical success,

spawning several sequels over the years and attaining cult status.

So, what were your first impressions on the film?

I remember when I first watched it, I did like it, but the more I watched it, the less I liked it. Really? I'm going to have to disagree. Yeah, me too. No, that's fine. I mean, that's fine. I just didn't. Like, even when we watched it, it's just a lot of problems for me. It's not a perfect film. It's not. And I would never pretend that it is.

That being said, it will probably always have a place in my heart because I was really young.

Like, we watched it when it, it had to be when it came out.

It came out in 1996, so I was five.

I was seven.

I was 11.

I, outside of Halloween, John Carpenter's Halloween, this is the first horror movie I genuinely

remember watching for the first time.

So it's always going to have that special place in my heart because it kind of

kick started the love of the genre was scream.

I just remember watching the hell out of it.
