I know I performed femininity and it fed into the abuse cycle because I definitely took on a demure role in relationships of mine where I was not doing

something to deserve the emotional abuse I was receiving but I was just so

complacent and not even following my own guiding light.

I was just like, well, there's an intense masculine presence near me and I'm going to glom onto that.

I think it's like all of us not performing our gender roles moving forward,

which I don't know, maybe that's not feasible for us to work on changing but like how can we

get kids to slowly shift out of this like these rigid boxes which do not set up anybody for success.

Welcome to the show. Oh, Hey everyone. I think if you look at last week's episode with Vigo Mortenson and

this week's episode with Zoe Liggin, you have a pretty good sense of what I'd like this show to be.

I'd like to have an Oscar winner on and then the next week someone like Zoe who has been a sex

educator and writer and visual artist for over five years now. You may be

familiar with her work online. She has written a whole bunch for

Refinery 29. She's done stuff with Time magazine. Yahoo style, pitchfork and

ad hoc.

She's been really successful as this kind of public sex educator,

and I felt it was time to have a larger conversation

about sex in 2018, at least on this podcast. I know in the outside world it's a

conversation plenty of people are having with their friends, but I think publicly,

at least on social media and in writing online and in podcast even, I haven't heard much dialogue between a man and a woman about where we stand sexually in this Me Too era.
