But my understanding is that tomorrow you can make my favorite thing.

That is the nature of the search and of this trying again and again.

And I think that that is sometimes forgotten in this world of

geniuses and idiots

Welcome to the show. Oh, Welcome back everyone and thank you for being here. We only have a few more episodes before the Thank you Director Patrick Wang. Some quick facts about him in case you are unfamiliar with his work.

He was born in Texas to Taiwanese immigrants.

He graduated from MIT with a degree in economics and music and theater

arts.

I have to say, in the history of filmmaking, I'm pretty sure, I'm willing to make a bet, that he is the only person to have that degree from MIT.

He has also authored three books, taught students, and has been an avid student himself of game theory, health policy, and income

inequality.

I mention this because all of these topics and sub-interest have found their way into Wang's

directorial work. In seven years he's directed four films. While all these movies

are different in structure and plot, they seem to be collectively

concerned with people that are at once ordinary and flawed.

They tell the kind of stories that Hollywood seems less and less interested in

telling these days. His characters are often part of fractured marriages
