By definition, history is the study of the past through the written word.

Now modern historians will try to paint a more complete picture using a wide variety of disciplines.

Archaeology is a big one, obviously, and these days climate scientists and geologists are

almost as important to the study of history as historians themselves. They take a scientific approach to the past. You've got

architects and artists or you know architectural and art historians but they can tell us amazing things about who a people

were just by studying their art and architecture.

But at the root, history, the discipline, the study of history, is a study of the written words of the past and the problem

there is obvious you know if 2,000 years in the future, some aliens interested in Earth history stumbled upon

Mine Comf, they might just read it and say, you know, wow, these Jews sound just horrible.
