1,98. I'm going to read a quote from Steve Kerr, the coach of the Golden State Warriors,

and he says this, quote, the first order of business for any leader in any field is to develop

the relationship first. Then you can lay out your vision, talk about your plans

and what you have in store. Every person I've ever known responds to that human connection.

And he said this in response to a question that he was given on why he travels around the

world to meet with each player face to face

before starting his season. And I think this is incredibly important. We can talk about the

X's and O's. You can talk about strategy. You can talk about goal setting. You can give guys

tools and girls' tools on stress management and confidence and focus. But what it all begins with is that connection.

Building a relationship so strong it could bear the weight of truth. Building a connection

so strong, it could bear the weight of truth. And so my invitation to you today, whether

you're a coach, a player, a parent, it doesn't matter who you are.

What is the status of your relationships right now?

Especially the ones that are the most important to you, to your growth as a human, to your

growth as a player, as a leader.

Think about, for those of you who are journaling,

write down the relationships that are most important to you,

that will have the biggest impact on your performance, on your happiness,

write down that list of people.
