Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 1,910. A phrase that you've

heard me say many times is, the main thing is to keep the main thing, the main thing. And that's from

the late Stephen Covey. And I love that quote. And I think about it often.

And recently I've been thinking about how the main thing must be defined according to your context, according to what you're going out because the main, what you're going after.

Because the main thing for you now might not be the main thing for you five 10 years down the road and then the main thing that you might be pursuing

might be something you think is the main thing but the reality is there something that's even

more important than that.

Let me give you a little example of that.

Some of you've heard this experience in my life before.

About 15 years ago, I was getting into the field of sport and performance psychology.

I was getting a master's degree.

I had three children under seven,

six and five. I was teaching high school. I was coaching a baseball team. There was a lot going on.

And I was doing everything I could to maximize and optimize and walk the walk in accordance

to what I was learning and teaching.

And so things started to pick up.

I started to work with baseball teams.

I was driving back and forth an hour or so to school.

I was teaching at trying to teach at a high level.

I was trying to be a high level parent, a high level dad.

And I was go, go, go.
