Good morning and welcome to the Increasing Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 1,909. I recently came across

0:08.0

the transcript of a speech by Albert Gray delivered in 1940, 1940. And the speech is called the common denominator of success. And back in the 1940s, he was looking

0:26.2

around for the common denominator. Why were some people incredibly successful and why weren't

0:34.1

others incredibly successful? And he goes on to say this, quote, with a disturbing

0:40.2

realization that I was trying to supervise and direct their efforts without knowing myself what

You probably wondered, Gray continues, why it is that those who are the best at what they do

1:39.0

seem to like to do the things that you don't like to do.

1:43.7

The reality is they don't.

1:45.8

So why do they do them?

1:48.2

Here's what I like this last sentence.

1:50.0

Because by doing the things they don't like to do,

1:53.4

they can accomplish the things they want to accomplish, close quote.

1:58.6

That was back in 1940.

2:05.3

And boy, do those words and does that principle ring true today what is that thing that you don't like to do that is stopping you from being incredibly
