1,831. Today I was talking to an athlete and we were talking about the odds of

success. And he ended up saying that when you are performing at the highest

level and competing against the best in the world, first of all, the odds of

even getting to this position are very low. A very, excuse me, a very low

probability rate. I'm very low portion of people who start playing sports,

ever make it to the highest echelon of elite sport. So that's number one.

Number two is the odds of winning are very low as well. And then we started

talking about becoming rational and using probability to enhance your

confidence and enhance your ability to focusing on what you can control. And he

goes on to say that when you look at the odds of winning success, a lot of

times Vegas will put out the odds and you'll see that the odds are low. The

odds are low, winning. The odds are low of winning a championship or getting to

the playoffs, whatever it may be. And then the question becomes, okay, the odds

are 10%, 30%, 40%, whatever it may be. No athlete is going to look at the odds,

going into competition, say, you know what? Oh, the odds are I'm not going to

win. Okay, I'm just not going to try then. Of course not. You look at the odds,

you see the odds are low and you go and you give your best. And so this episode

is for those of you who are facing impossible odds. You need to ask yourself,

okay, if the odds are against me, what am I going to do about it? What can you do

to increase the odds of success, even if by 1%, by half a percent. And are you

still willing to try it? Do you love this journey enough to where you're going
