1,794. I read it article the other day about Mike Nichols. Mike Nichols is a director

and he made four straight box office hits and that included two Academy Award nominations

and an Oscar for Best Director. Then he made another movie in a completely flopped.

For the next seven years he didn't make a movie. He was worried about how people were going

to perceive him and he eventually got over himself and he started looking back and he said after

the seven years of not producing a movie he said, those seven years of not making movies taught

me more about making movies than the years I spent making movies. So it was asked of him what

did it teach him and he said to relax, prepare as much as you can, prepare, prepare, prepare,

then show up and throw it all away. Just show up and see what happens. Close quote. I think

Mike Nichols' advice is so good for all of us. I think sometimes we make things a lot bigger

than they need to be. Bertrand Russell said that whenever he feels like he is terribly important

he reminds himself to get over yourself. He says, you're not that important and it doesn't matter

what it is, care but not that much. Prepare, prepare, prepare and then show up and ask yourself,

who cares? Going back to what we talked about with Sean White last week. And so when was there a

time in your life where you really cared, you cared so much that it crippled you, it actually hurt

you. You almost cared too much. And then when was there a time when you didn't care as much? Yes,

it was important but the care factor wasn't there. You had kept things in perspective and you ended

up performing so much better. See what lessons you can learn from exploring both of those memories
