Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 1746. This episode is for those of you

who have set the bar incredibly high. You are trying to establish high performance habits.

You are trying to create powerful systems that will produce

results that you're looking for. You are motivated. You're focused. You're driven. And nothing is

going to stop you from achieving your dreams. However, and that's great. All that is wonderful.

And I want nothing more than the best for you.

I want you to achieve and have all those things and more.

The only suggestion I have is to remember one thing, that it is fine to have high goals.

It's fine to aim big and swing for the fences. I am all for that. I am all for that.

I am in the camp that anyone who's achieved anything great, the odds were against them.

And so the odds are against you if you're trying to pursue excellent, if you're trying to be

the best of the best because

if it was easy everybody would be the best but no it's reserved for the select few along with not

only just effort and grit and competence but also some uncontrollable things as well that's a

whole another episode that we can get into now Now, just because the odds are low,

that doesn't mean you're going to just give up, right? Like, of course, you're going to go after it.

You are going to go after it even if the odds are low. That's why you need to love it.

But another thing I want to remind you of is that you cannot underestimate how hard it's going to be

and how long it's going to take.

A lot of times when I sit with young athletes who set really high goals, I look at them in the

eyes and I tell them, keep in mind that you are going to get punched in the face along the

way. You are going to have heartbreak. You are going to have, you are going to get injured, you are going to get punched in the face along the way. You're going to have heartbreak.
